My display isn't showing reactions
First, check your display. If it says "Connection Lost" or "WiFi Setup", your device lost its WiFi connection. Power cycle it or hold the button to re-enter WiFi setup. If it shows a QR code, it needs to be paired. Scan the code or visit the link shown. If the display looks normal, verify your Slack or Discord account is still linked by visiting the connect page.
Why am I missing reactions from some channels?
By default, pebl runs in basic mode — it shows the emoji, who reacted, and which channel. If you're not seeing reactions from <a href="https://slack.com/help/articles/360035092414-Use-Slack-Connect-to-work-with-other-companies-in-channels" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Slack Connect or external shared channels</a>, you need to enable Message Previews. Open the pebl app in Slack and tap "Enable Previews". This grants the extra scope needed to receive reactions from those channels. You'll also start seeing a snippet of the reacted message on your display.
How do I connect to WiFi?
On first boot (or when no saved network is found), the display shows a QR code and creates a hotspot called "SlackReact-Setup". Scan the QR code with your phone to connect, or join the network manually. A captive portal will open where you enter your WiFi credentials. The device saves them, restarts, and connects automatically. It remembers up to 5 networks.
How do I relink my Slack account?
Visit the connect page and click "Connect Slack" again. This will refresh your connection. If you removed the app from Slack, you'll need to re-authorize it.
My device was reset — do I lose my activation?
No. Your activation key is tied to the device hardware, not the firmware. If your device was factory reset or reflashed, your paid status is preserved. To re-pair: unlink the device from your Slack account first (open the pebl app in Slack and choose Unlink), then enter the new pairing code shown on your device's screen. Your activation will carry over automatically.
What happens when my trial ends?
After 7 days, your device will show a message prompting you to activate. Buy a $10 key (one-time, no subscription) and enter it on your device. Your key works forever. No renewals, no recurring charges.
How do I update firmware?
Firmware updates are delivered automatically over WiFi. When a new version is available, your device will install it the next time it's idle. Required updates install immediately. No action needed on your end.
Can I use multiple devices?
Each Slack or Discord account supports one linked device at a time. To switch devices, unlink the current one first, then pair the new one. One device can also be linked to both Slack and Discord simultaneously — they'll both show reactions.
